Producing third group surrogates of therapeutic radionuclides: Sc, Y, and La
Prof. Jonathan Engle

The potential of targeted radionuclide therapy, particularly with alpha emitting radionuclides, has incited study of several combinations of radionuclides for paired imaging and treatment of disease. Because diagnostic utility is often based on chemical similarity between theranostic congeners, the Cyclotron Research Group at the University of Wisconsin has pursued accelerator-based production of third group radionuclides with imageable positron emissions, especially La-132, Y-86, and Sc-43. I will describe our efforts and some of their applications.
