Garg receives 2022 Dick and Peggy Notebaert Award

Prof. Umesh Garg is the 2022 recipient of the Dick and Peggy Notebaert Award. This award from the University of Notre Dame Gradaute School recognizes significant contributions to graduate training, including, but not limited to: building a graduate program; securing training grants to fund graduate students; serving with excellence as a director of graduate studies or as a graduate administrative assistant; developing programming or support systems for graduate students, etc.

Garg was recognized for his long leadership of the nationally renowned Research Experience for Undergrads (REU) program – spanning from 2000 until now – has helped countless underrepresented minority and female students discern and find their way into graduate Physics programs, both at Notre Dame and across the country.
