Results from the 150,152,154Sm(p,t) reactions using data taken by Hyperion (previously STARLiTeR) are discussed, with a focus on studying the spin distributions produced by surrogate reactions, as well as relative width as a function of spin above the neutron separation energy. This comparison utilized a new nuclear reaction code to calculate gamma-ray cascades in order to extract the spin distribution from reactions and another to calculate the spin distribution semiclassically for the (p,t) reaction.
