This talk will examine the German research into nuclear reactors and isotope separation during the Second World War, the Allied fear of “Hitler’s Bomb” and the consequences, the postwar controversy regarding the morality of scientists working on nuclear weapons, and the Cold War debate over the proper role of nuclear weapons in Germany.
