CASPAR Underground Accelerator at SURF
Published: February 2016 Wiescher
CASPAR is a low cost high intensity 1 MV accelerator system installed at the 4850 ft level of SURF to measure critical low energy reactions driving stellar evolution. The focus of the facility will be to investigate reactions that determine stellar helium burning, namely the stellar neutron sources for the s-process that provides about 50% of all the heavy elements observed in our universe.
