The observation of longitudinal wobbling motion in ¹⁸⁷Au has confirmed the predictions made for its existence in odd-A nuclei by Frauendorf and Dönau in 2014. ¹⁸⁷Au is the first example of a Longitudinal Wobbler (LW), clearly distinguished from the associated Signature Partner (SP) Band.
